Betsy Covington Smith is the great-granddaughter of Charles H. Morse. Mrs. Smith will discuss her fascinating book, Family Business, which is an inside look at her great-grandfather’s life and the family legacy he left behind. Mrs. Smith describes Morse as an industrialist with “huge integrity” who had “great dreams for Winter Park.” He came from modest means, growing up in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and joined the Fairbanks Company when he was a young man. An entertaining and candid speaker, Mrs. Smith will focus on her colorful – and occasionally controversial – ancestors, and her great-grandfather’s vision for the town he helped form.
